From patient to innovator, it's sometimes just a short step. Today, François Ottavi is more than just a former patient: as founder of Myodev, he is constantly seeking to develop the future of rehabilitation.

Ski vacations that turn into long months of rehabilitation are bad luck. After rupturing his cruciate ligaments in 2017, the idea gradually took root in François' mind. He already saw the potential of gamification and convinced his parents to give him a Kinect to get back into sport. But the Kinect has its limits, and development for it leaves almost no room for anything but Xbox... Too bad, we're changing our angle of attack!

François Le Bricoleur

The desire to understand and create has been there for as long as he can remember. "I used to love taking apart everything electronic when I was a kid", he explains, not without a chuckle. A passion that remains and evolves: the connected legging, Myodev's first idea, has evolved into a simple, lightweight armband. It's the physiotherapists and their feedback that have enabled him to evolve. "Physiotherapists told me it was too constraining [washing, sizing] so they couldn't see themselves using it."

So François turns to a more adaptable solution. With this help and feedback, the future of rehabilitation he envisaged was taking shape. The Myotrack armband was born of this impulse to make the device simpler and more instinctive.

Innovation, a human adventure

One of the great surprises of this start-up adventure is undoubtedly the human adventure. Although he started out alone, François received the advice of many people to help him develop Myodev: physiotherapists as well as collaborators. From the outset, the acceptance of his project by the physiotherapists was an unexpected opportunity for the young cyclist. One of his strengths is his perspective as a former patient. Coupled with the healthcare professionals, it's a real dream team, working together to create a tool that's both easy to use and engaging.

It's also time to expand and welcome new members with different backgrounds. "It's good to have this plurality," he admits of the Myodev team and its varied talents. Everyone has their own specialty, and that's what he appreciates.

François has gradually worked his way up to become the founder of Myodev. Adaptation and evolution, which are part and parcel of being human, are synonymous with this project, which he proudly supports and which is constantly pushing back its limits to offer the best future for rehabilitation. An accident is bad luck, but it can also be bingo!
